State and local authorities are increasingly acknowledging the importance of secure, cost-effective housing as a fundamental element for a successful reentry process. Nevertheless, considerable obstacles persist in gaining access to housing during community reintegration, including a shortage of available housing, excessively strict housing policies, societal stigma, and restricted discharge and reentry support services.
