Thanks to DNA testing and the efforts of the Genesee County Public Defender’s Office, Reed held onto hope for justice and the chance to prove his innocence. In January 2023, while sitting on his porch in Louisiana, he was arrested by U.S. Marshals in connection with a rape case dating back to 1976.
