State Rep. Laurie Pohutsky, D-Livonia, said Howard was among the incarcerated women who had contacted her office with concerns about prison conditions. Pohutsky, who helped organize a Feb. 24 House Oversight Committee hearing on conditions at the women’s prison, said Howard had reported being ordered to clean up toxic mold without proper personal protective equipment.
